Salivary biomarkers in cardiovascular disease: An insight into the current evidence

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the most common cause of mortality worldwide. In acute cardiovascular conditions, time is a crucial player in outcomes disease management. Given ease and noninvasiveness obtaining saliva, salivary biomarkers may provide rapid efficient diagnosis CVD. Here, we reviewed published data on value molecules for CVD, especially care settings. this review, show that some such as creatinine kinase myocardial band, C-reactive protein, troponin-1, myoglobin exhibited promising diagnostic values were comparable to their serum counterparts. Other also investigated showed controversial results, including myeloperoxidase, brain natriuretic peptide, oxidative stress markers. Based our concluded clinical use diagnose CVD promising; however, it still early stage development. Further studies needed validate these findings, determine cutoff diagnosis, compare them other established currently use.
